FLOWS TO THE FUTURE

3 x SHORT FILMS - PEATLANDS PARTNERSHIP
RELEASED JUNE 2016

A series of three short films for The Peatlands Partnership's Flows to the Future project. The films depict the magnificent habitat of the Flow Country and the important work being done to restore and protect it.

Covering approximately 400,000 hectares, the Flow Country of Caithness and Sutherland in northern Scotland is the largest expanse of blanket bog in Europe and is home to an array of rare and unusual wildlife - from black-throated diver, common scoter and hen harrier to newts, invertebrates and carnivorous plants. But this fragile habitat isn't just important for wildlife, under its surface lies an estimated 400 million tonnes of carbon, more than twice that stored in all the forests in the UK combined.

The Flows to the Future project is a lottery- and EU-funded initiative to restore the peatlands of the Flow Country and raise awareness of their national and international importance.  The films can be seen online, at the RSPB Forsinard Visitor Centre and on a local tour. Maramedia is proud to support the project through our films and hopes they engage and inspire audiences with the work of this important initiative.
